  1. Judging by the title, the book sounds like it’d be mostly about demon trapping, right? Maybe Riley has to step into her father’s shoes and become a super-awesome demon trapper within a very short amount of time or something. But no, it’s not like that at all.
This book is not about a demon trapper’s daughter. This book is about a girl who has lost her father and needs to work through her grief within the context of their society– including sitting vigil at her father’s grave to prevent creepy necromancers from resurrecting him to be used as a slave. It has cool demon-fighting, but it’s not about that. It has a little bit of romance, but it’s not about that. It’s about a girl trying her best to keep pushing on. And I love that.
I actually stayed up past midnight trying to finish it. I laughed out loud, and wanted to cry several times.

The Demonhunters TV show was particularly hilarious.
