  1. This book gives an excellent look at both what it means to serve your country and the difficulties presented by the prospect of someone “passing for white” during World War II. I wouldn’t call it a winner, but the main character’s voice is very real in her qualms and victories throughout WASP training. I felt that at a couple points outside of that her emotions came up short, but all in all it was a fair read and I would recommend it.
